No previous experience of any kind is required. The Junior SUP School welcomes both beginner students making contact with paddling for the first time and participants who want to perfect their maneuvering and crossing technique.
The school is adapted for children and young people up to 17 years of age. Groups are organized homogeneously to guarantee that the pedagogical progression is consistent with the physical development of each age group.
They are subdivided according to technical level and age under the direct supervision of our instructors. This allows working on balance and paddling exercises adapted both to the beginner level and to advanced crossing dynamics in the bay of Donostia - San Sebastián.
Of course. Our certified coaches apply progressive methodologies. Students start in protected areas of the bay practicing kneeling positions and basic balance before standing up with total autonomy.
Yes, for fundamental maritime safety reasons it is essential that all students know how to swim with ease in the water. Additionally, the use of a flotation life jacket is mandatory at all times during the sessions.
The enrollment includes all the necessary technical equipment: approved Stand Up Paddle board, paddle adjusted to the student's height, safety leash, high-end neoprene wetsuit, and personal flotation jacket.
Yes, the life jacket is a mandatory and non-negotiable safety element in the nautical activities regulations of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián, regardless of the student's level.
Indeed, the club makes high-quality, rigorously disinfected and maintained neoprene suits available to all students. If the student prefers to use their own personal suit, they can also do so without any problem.
The student only needs to come with their swimsuit/bathing suit on, a towel for the subsequent shower, water-resistant sunscreen, and a glasses strap in case of requiring prescription glasses.
The classes are taught every Saturday morning from 12:00h to 13:30h during the school year season (from September to June).
Safety is our top priority. If for meteorological or ground swell reasons it is not safe to navigate, the class is suspended in advance and an agreed make-up date is offered within the calendar of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián.
All sessions have a strict low ratio of students per instructor certified by the Basque Canoe Federation, coastal communication radio, rescue material, and a fast support boat when circumstances advise it.
