Rental and activity reservations
To make a reservation, 100% of the total amount must be paid. The reservation is not considered confirmed or valid until the payment is made.
Rental cancellations
Cancellations are allowed up to 48 hours before the start of the activity. Up to two hours before the start, rescheduling is possible. Less than 2 hours before the start, neither cancellation nor rescheduling is possible, and 100% of the amount paid will be lost.
Justified medical cancellations
In case of cancellation due to a JUSTIFIED medical reason or death of any degree of kinship, we will offer a voucher valid for one calendar year to carry out the activity.
Included insurance
The rental price includes civil liability and accident insurance. It is mandatory to correctly, truthfully, and completely fill out all fields regarding the participants.
Adverse weather conditions
In the event of adverse weather conditions or rough seas, the ability to make reservations will be blocked. Affected individuals will receive the option of a full refund or a date change.
Punctuality and Privacy

1. What exactly is a transparent kayak and what are its advantages?
A transparent kayak is a recreational boat made of high-resistance acrylic polycarbonate, the same material used for airplane windows. Its main advantage is that it offers a "glass-bottom" effect, allowing you a complete view of the underwater landscapes of La Concha Bay while navigating.
2. Where can I rent a transparent kayak in San Sebastián?
In San Sebastián, the exclusive base for renting these panoramic kayaks is the Itsas Eskola of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián. We are located at the foot of Ondarreta Beach, a perfect strategic location for direct access to the crystal-clear waters of the bay and the island.
3. Can you see the seabed of La Concha Bay clearly from the transparent kayak?
Absolutely! The waters of the bay, especially on calm days and at low tide around Pico del Loro and Santa Clara Island, offer great visibility. With the transparent kayak, you can observe schools of fish, the topography of the seabed, and coastal vegetation, creating a total connection with nature.
4. Can I reach Santa Clara Island with the transparent kayak?
Yes. The crossing to Santa Clara Island is the most spectacular route to do in a transparent kayak. The trip from Ondarreta takes about 20 to 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. Remember that during the summer season, you must moor the kayak to the perimeter buoys if you decide to go ashore on the island. Then, you will have to swim a few meters.
5. Is the transparent kayak for one person or for couples?
Our transparent kayak models are available in single or double format, optimized to guarantee maximum stability and the best possible visibility for the crew. If you come accompanied, you can book several single kayaks or rent a double one and navigate together enjoying the same experience.
6. Is a transparent kayak more fragile or unstable than a regular one?
Not at all. Although their acrylic appearance makes them look like glass, they are made of ultra-impact-resistant polycarbonate. They are wide, self-bailing kayaks with a low center of gravity, providing exactly the same level of stability and safety as a conventional opaque kayak.
7. Do I need to know how to swim to rent the transparent boat?
Yes. Knowing how to swim autonomously is a strict, non-negotiable, and mandatory requirement to participate in any of our water activities in San Sebastián, thus ensuring our maritime safety protocols.
8. What are the age requirements to use the transparent kayak?
The minimum age to participate in the activity is 6 years old (always accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult). To rent and steer a single kayak on their own, the minimum required age is 10 years. 16 and 17-year-olds can rent if they bring a signed authorization from their guardians.
9. Is it mandatory to wear a life jacket on a calm day?
Yes. The use of the life jacket (included in the rental and provided by us) is absolutely mandatory at all times while navigating inside the kayak, regardless of the weather conditions or the calmness of the sea.
10. What does the rental price of the transparent kayak include?
With your reservation, whether you are a local or a tourist, we provide: the high-end transparent kayak, paddle, leash (safety cord), life jacket, prior instructions from the Itsas Eskola instructors, use of outdoor showers, storage area, and accident & civil liability insurance.
11. Where do I leave my belongings while doing the kayak route?
At our Sea School facilities (Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián), you will have a safe and monitored storage area to leave your backpack, keys, or change of clothes while you navigate along the Gipuzkoa coast.
12. Will I get very wet? What clothes should I wear?
It is a water activity and the kayak is open (self-bailing), so there are always some splashes from the paddles or the sea. You must wear a swimsuit. We also strongly recommend sun protection, a towel for the end, and a strap to secure your glasses if you wear them. A cap and a lycra shirt are also optional.
13. Are there showers available after the kayak trip?
Yes, after returning your transparent kayak, you will have access to an outdoor shower at the school facilities to rinse off the salt comfortably before continuing your tourist day in San Sebastián or returning home.
14. What are the prices for renting a transparent kayak in San Sebastián?
The general rates for 2026 are: 90-minute rental for €26, 2-hour rental for €33, and a half-day of 4 hours for €43. We offer exclusive reduced rates for club members. To benefit from the discount, members of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián can make the reservation at 667636296. The member discount does not apply to non-member companions.
15. How long do you recommend renting the transparent kayak?
The most requested and balanced rental is the 2-hour one. It gives you plenty of time to go around Pico del Loro, enter the Donostia bay, get closer to Santa Clara Island, and carefully enjoy the seabed through the hull of the kayak without rushing. You can also see the famous flysch of the area, known from 'Game of Thrones'.
16. Is it necessary to book the transparent kayak in advance?
Highly recommended. Being a very special and novel product (the transparent bottom), units are limited and in high demand during the summer. We advise using our online platform to secure your desired time slot. Reservations close 2 hours before the activity in summer.
17. Is there any special discount if I am a member of the club?
Yes. The Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián offers discounts to its members. The 90-minute transparent kayak rental for a member is €18, the 2-hour rental is €24, and the 4-hour rental is €31. This discount applies nominally to the member and not to accompanying non-members.
18. What happens if it rains or the sea is rough on the day of my reservation?
Safety comes first. If the instructors determine that adverse weather conditions (waves or strong wind) make the activity unadvisable, it will be proactively suspended by the club. You will then be offered the option of a 100% refund of the paid rate or a date change at no cost.
19. Can I cancel or change the time of my reservation due to an unforeseen event?
Yes, respecting the terms' deadlines. You can cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before the appointment. If an unforeseen event arises after that period, you can reschedule it up to 2 hours before the start time of the activity. Past that margin (less than 2h), there is no right to refund or reschedule. For justified medical reasons, a valid annual voucher will be issued.
20. How far in advance should I arrive at the Itsas Eskola?
We request strict punctuality. We ask you to arrive between 10 and 15 minutes before your selected reservation time. This margin is necessary to complete the check-in, adjust the life jackets, and give the safety briefing without losing real navigation time.
