Frequently Asked Questions

1. How many people can go in a Dragon Boat?
The boat has a maximum capacity of 11 people. To ensure smooth and fun navigation, we require a minimum group of 7 people. It is ideal for closed groups: family, friends, companies, teambuildings, or associations.
2. How long does the activity on the water last?
The session lasts a total of 1.5 hours (90 minutes). This time includes a brief initial technical explanation and the tour navigating as a team through the calm waters of the Urumea River in San Sebastián.
3. Is it a good option for company or teambuilding activities?
Absolutely! The Dragon Boat at the Ibai Eskola in San Sebastián is globally recognized as one of the best activities for companies. It fosters leadership, synchronization, teamwork, and camaraderie in a very visual and fun way.
4. Do we need prior rowing experience?
No, not at all. Dragon Boat is a very intuitive discipline. Our expert instructor will teach you the basic paddling technique in the first few minutes. The important thing is the group's synchronization, not individual technique.
5. There are people with low physical fitness in our group, can they participate?
Yes, it is a low-impact activity accessible to all ages and fitness levels. Being a boat propelled by up to 11 people, the effort is shared. The pace is adapted to the group's capabilities. It is only essential to know how to swim.
6. Do you organize outings for bachelor/bachelorette parties and birthdays?
Of course. It is one of the most requested options in San Sebastián for celebrations with friends and farewells. It is an original, different experience that guarantees lots of laughs on the water. Important: the consumption of alcohol or psychoactive substances prior to the activity or during it is not permitted. Otherwise, the activity will be suspended and there will be no right to a refund.
7. What is the minimum age to get on the Dragon Boat?
The recommended minimum age is 10 years old, provided the minor knows how to swim perfectly and is accompanied by adults who take responsibility within the group.
8. Who sets the course and avoids collisions on the river?
You are the engine, but our certified instructor from the River School of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián will be at the stern of the boat acting as the helmsman. They will be in charge of steering, safety, and guiding the activity at all times.
9. What equipment does the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián provide?
We provide all the technical equipment: the Dragon Boat for your exclusive use, lightweight individual paddles for each participant, and certified life jackets.
10. What clothes should we bring from home?
Come in comfortable sports clothing that you don't mind getting a little stained or wet. For footwear, old sports shoes, water shoes, or strapped sandals. On sunny days, a cap and sunscreen are highly recommended.
11. Are we going to get wet during the river trip?
It is highly likely that you will splash each other while paddling synchronously. You won't fall into the water (it's a super stable boat), but expect to come out a little wet from the paddle splashes.
12. Where can we leave our backpacks or valuables?
At the departure point (our River School at the Mundaiz Pier), we have a secure locker space where the whole group can store their belongings and dry clothes during the activity.
13. Can we take our mobile phones to take photos or videos?
For safety reasons and to avoid losing them in the river, we advise against bringing electronic devices unless they are stored in secure waterproof cases attached to the body. Our instructor can take a few photos for you if you ask! The Ibai Eskola of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián is not responsible for any loss resulting from the contact of any technological device with the aquatic environment.
14. Can we bring drinks or a snack on the boat?
To keep the Urumea environment clean and guarantee safety while paddling, eating and drinking (except water) are not allowed on board: we recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated. If you wish, we can organize a technical stop for a snack at a scheduled point. This stop must be planned in advance.
15. How do we book and schedule the time for our group?
All Dragon Boat reservations must be managed via the Club's WhatsApp (667 636 296). This way we ensure that the boat and instructor are available in the exact time slot your group needs.
16. Does the price change if we end up being 8 people instead of 11?
No, the price is a flat and single rate for the boat rental and the instructor's service, regardless of whether the final group is 7 or 11 participants.
17. We are a company, can you issue an invoice in the company's name?
Yes, we provide formal invoices for companies, sports associations, or schools. But in that case, do not pay online. Contact 667 636 296 directly. You will need to provide your tax details (Company name, Tax ID, and address). If the reservation is made online, an invoice cannot be issued.
18. What happens if it rains heavily on the day of our reservation?
In San Sebastián, the weather is unpredictable. The activity goes ahead even in light rain (it's a water sport!). Only if conditions are dangerous (thunderstorms or strong currents in the Urumea) will the School cancel the session and offer to change the date or a full refund.
19. How early should we arrive at the Mundaiz Pier?
We ask that the entire group be present about 15 minutes before the agreed time. This allows us to distribute life jackets and paddles calmly so we can fully enjoy the hour and a half on the water.
20. Can the reservation be cancelled if something unexpected comes up?
Yes, we understand that coordinating several people is complicated. You can cancel or reschedule at no cost as long as you notify us more than 24 hours in advance. Cancellations with less notice result in the loss of the payment.
