Reservations and Payments

To book activities like the Big SUP, 100% of the total amount must be paid. Without payment, the reservation is not considered confirmed or valid.

Rental Cancellations

Cancellation is allowed up to 48 hours before the start of the activity. Up to two hours before the start of the activity, it is possible to reschedule. Less than 2 hours before the start of the activity, it is not possible to cancel or reschedule, and 100% of the amount paid will be lost.

Justified Medical Cancellations

In case of cancellation for a JUSTIFIED medical reason, the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián will offer a voucher valid for one calendar year to carry out the activity.

Insurance Included

The price includes civil liability and accident insurance. It is mandatory to correctly, truthfully, and completely fill in all the participants' data on the website. Failure to do so invalidates the insurance coverage.

Adverse Weather

In case of adverse weather conditions or rough seas, the possibility of carrying out the activity will be blocked. Affected individuals will be given the option of a full refund or a date change.

2. Where does the Giant Paddle Surf activity take place in San Sebastián?
The Big SUP rental departs from and returns to the **Itsas Eskola of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián**, located at the foot of Ondarreta Beach. From here you will have direct and unbeatable access to the protected waters of La Concha Bay.
3. Is it difficult to keep your balance on an 8-person Big SUP board?
It's much easier than individual Paddle Surf! Because it's such a large board with a significant volume of air, the stability it offers in the water is excellent. Even if someone in the group moves or falls into the water, the board will rarely capsize, making it a low-difficulty activity suitable for all profiles.
4. What route can we take with the Big SUP in La Concha Bay?
With the 2-hour rental, the star route consists of departing from Ondarreta, paddling in a coordinated manner towards the Pico del Loro, crossing the bay enjoying the views of the La Concha Promenade and Mount Urgull, and heading towards the emblematic Santa Clara Island before starting the return trip.
5. Do you need prior Paddle Surf experience to rent the Big SUP?
No prior experience is necessary. Before entering the water, our expert instructors will give you an explanatory briefing on how to position yourselves, how to paddle in sync, how to turn the giant board, and the basic safety rules so you can have a great time from the very first minute.
6. Is it mandatory to know how to swim to rent the Big SUP in San Sebastián?
Yes. It is a strict, non-negotiable, and completely mandatory requirement that all group participants know how to swim independently. No exceptions will be made for obvious maritime safety reasons.
7. What is the minimum age to get on a Giant Paddle Surf or Big SUP?
The minimum age allowed to participate in this group activity is 10 years old. Please note that all minors under 16 must always be under the direct supervision of responsible adults on the same board. Youth aged 16 and 17 can participate alone, provided they bring a signed authorization from their legal guardian.
8. Is it mandatory to wear a life jacket on the Big SUP?
Yes, the use of a buoyancy life jacket is completely mandatory for all occupants of the giant board during the entire time you are at sea, regardless of how calm the Cantabrian Sea is that day. We will provide the life jacket.
9. Can we rent the board if our group has fewer than 8 people?
Of course! The board has a *maximum* capacity of 8 people, but if there are 4, 5, 6, or 7 of you, you can still enjoy the activity and you'll have more space. Keep in mind that the rental is charged "per board" and not "per person".
10. Who steers the board if we go in a group?
Navigating a Big SUP requires teamwork. To move forward in a straight line, the occupants on the sides must paddle at the same time. For sharp turns, it is usually the person located furthest back on the board (the stern) who uses their paddle as a rudder or acts as a guide coordinating the rest.
11. What exactly does the Big SUP rental in Ondarreta include?
Your reservation includes everything you need to head straight to the water: the giant Big SUP board, a paddle for each participant, life jackets, a short technical instruction, civil liability and accident insurance, use of the locker service for the group, and access to our outdoor showers.
12. Where can we keep our backpacks and phones during the activity?
We recommend not bringing valuables onto the board (especially cell phones if they are not in secured waterproof cases). In the facilities of the Sea School of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián, we have a locker service where the group can safely leave their bags, keys, or change of clothes.
13. Will I get wet doing Big SUP? What clothes should we bring?
Yes, you will get quite wet! A big part of the fun of Big SUP is jumping into the sea from the board. You must come with swimwear (swimsuit or bikini). Additionally, it is vital to apply sunscreen before heading out, wear a strap for your glasses if you use them, and leave a towel in the locker. Lycra shirts are optional.
14. Can we shower at the school after the group trip?
Of course. At the end of your Giant Paddle Surf or Big SUP session, the entire group will have access to the school's outdoor showers to wash off the sand and sea salt, allowing you to comfortably continue with your plans in San Sebastián.
15. What are the rates to rent a Big SUP in San Sebastián?
For the 2026 season, renting the entire giant board (capacity up to 8 people) costs €122 for 90 minutes, €158 for 2 full hours, and €207 for a half day (4 hours). Remember that this price is divided among everyone who goes, making the cost per person very economical.
16. How long is it recommended to rent the giant board for a group?
Without a doubt, the most balanced option for a successful excursion is the 2-hour rental. It will give you enough time to get used to paddling as a team, reach Santa Clara Island, take a few swims by jumping off the board, and return to Ondarreta without having to watch the clock.
17. How far in advance should we book the Big SUP?
Since it is a highly requested activity on weekends (especially for groups and bachelor/bachelorette parties), we suggest booking online weeks in advance during the summer season. The online system closes registrations 2 hours before the activity in summer, and the night before during the low season.
18. Is there a special price for the Big SUP if there are members of the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián?
Yes, we offer a reduced board rate (e.g., €132 for the 2h route) applicable exclusively if the reservation is made and formalized by a full club member. You can check availability and make the reservation for the group by calling directly at 667636296.
19. What happens to our group reservation if it rains or there is very rough sea?
Group safety is our priority. If the Itsas Eskola technical coordinators determine that the sea is dangerous or the weather is too adverse, we will proactively cancel the activity. In this case, you will always be offered a date change or a full refund of the rental.
20. Can we cancel the activity or reduce the number of participants once booked?
Yes, but the cancellation policies for reservations must be respected: if you modify participants less than 72h-24h in advance, a penalty of 50% of their proportional part will be applied. If you cancel within the 24 hours preceding the rental, or if you do not show up at the time of the reservation, the penalty is 100% (with no right to a refund).
